Concurrency of Leadership is a podcast about leadership across technology, design and policy in our contemporary world.

With technology, design and policy being intrinsically intertwined within modern society, the future progress of our collective success will be greatly impacted
and influenced by leaders in these fields. Concurrency of Leadership is a
podcast that explores everything from the impact of AI ethics on the climate
crisis and democracy to how inclusive design is shaping the future of work and
product design.

Often important discussions occur in silos, where the opportunity for
connections between these topics could be creating a positive impact.
Through a series of conversations, Ve, a designer by trade but instinctually a connector with 15+ years working with and for iconic F500 companies and brands from technology to design, will sit down with 2 -3 leaders from across technology, design and policy, to discuss, from their perspective as leaders, what they feel is required to help drive substantial change and how the needed transformations
can be achieved.

Episodes

Episode 1: Communicating in the climate crisis

Sir David Attenborough stated that “Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will.” On that note and leading into 2024, a year that poses to potentially have a massive impact on the future of society, Concurrency of Leadership begins with its first podcast discussing communicating during the climate crisis. On this episode, Ve Dewey sat down to converse with Lucy von Strumer and Seán Boyle, two leaders within the global discourse.

Lucy von Sturmer is the initiator of the global non-profit network Creatives for Climate and CEO of the award-winning impact communications consultancy, The Humblebrag. She is a world-renowned communications expert and business activist with 15+ years of experience building movements to drive positive impact. Lucy sits on the Forbes Nonprofit Council, is recognized by The University of Auckland as a ‘40 Under 40’ change-maker to watch and is listed by AdAge and AdWeek as a pioneer across the advertising and sustainability sector.

Seán Boyle is the co-founder of unitmode, an early-stage startup on a mission to turn marketing into a positive tipping point for climate change, empowering brands with an AI-powered marketing co-pilot with greenwashing prevention and detection tools. Seán was the former Head of Sustainability at Twitter, creating
the company’s first climate action strategy and partnering with leading climate action organisations including UNDP, UNFCCC, UNEP, FridaysForFuture, Cambridge University and other pioneers within climate change action. Seán is currently an Advisory Board member of WeDontHaveTimepreviously.

Episode 2: Cultures and Connections

The role of a leader is to create culture, but more importantly, to create a culture of permission where people can flourish. In a world experiencing societal meltdowns at the hands of diverse leaders, across multiple touchpoints from industry to politics, and with the project of the individual still the primary actor celebrated and the community atrophied, what is at stake without effective cultures and connections? How is it impacting the climate discourse?  For this episode, Ve Dewey sits down to discuss cultures and connections (and a few other things)  with two global leaders, one in tech and one in design, who are at the intersection of culture and connections, Anjali Ramachandran and Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino.

Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino is Design Director at TPXimpact. She has worked across design, internet of things, tech ethics and climate change and is the author of Smarter Homes (2018) and Creating a Culture of Innovation (2020).

Anjali Ramachandran is a Director at Storythings, an audience strategy and content production company that works with clients like ADP, Rockefeller Foundation, Tate, Museum of London, Shakespeare Folger Library and PBS. She is a co-founder of Ada’s List, a global network for women in STEM with over 10,000 members, now part of the US-based Tech Ladies community.
